Making Maine Sugarworks Maple Syrup

Spring is the heart of mud season in Strong, Maine...
Spring
The sap is running!

Collecting sap is a job for the whole
family. At the beginning of the season,
this requires a snowmobile and
snowshoes; later we use an ATV and mud
boots. Once the sap arrives at the
saphouse we begin boiling.  Our
wood-fired evaporator is fed throughout
the night to keeping the sap actively
boiling. When it's ready, we draw off
fresh Maine Sugarworks pure maple syrup.

The sweet-scented steam draws many
friends who like the smell and taste of
hot maple syrup on a frosty night! The
kids love when we boil the syrup down
and dribble it on snow to make maple
taffy.
